Election code in force for Parvathipuram Polls
Visakhapatnam: District Collector and Election Officer A Shyam Prasad announced that the Model Code of Conduct has come into immediate effect across Parvathipuram Manyam district for the upcoming Legislative Council elections.
The election schedule begins with the notification release on November 4, followed by a week-long nomination period ending November 11. The nominations scrutiny will take place on November 12, with November 14 set as the last date for withdrawal of candidature. Polling is scheduled for November 28, from 8 am to 4 pm, with counting of votes to take place on December 1.
The District Collector emphasized that under the Model Code of Conduct, ministers and public representatives are barred from announcing new policies or programs. "Official programs must remain separate from election-related activities," he said.
To ensure compliance with election regulations, the district administration is establishing various monitoring mechanisms, including video surveillance teams and a Media Certification and Monitoring Committee (MCMC).
These teams will oversee campaign activities and scrutinize candidates' election expenses. The collector called for cooperation from all stakeholders to ensure smooth and peaceful elections in the district.
