Energy savings: '6.68 MTOE by 2030’ target set for AP
Vijayawada: The Bureau of Energy Efficiency has set a target of 6.68 MTOE in energy savings for Andhra Pradesh by 2030, aligning with India's roadmap to reduce projected carbon emissions by 887 million tonnes.
Notably, as part of the efforts to achieve India's climate goals, the International Solar Alliance has proposed an integrated approach to implementing the Mission LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment) programme in states.
The alliance’s director general Ajay Mathur, a former member of PM’s Council on Climate Change, emphasised the need for an integrated energy efficiency strategy to achieve these targets.
Media advisor (southern states) of the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), A Chandrasekhar Reddy, held discussions with Mathur on Sunday. He said states like Andhra Pradesh have made significant strides in energy efficiency.
Reddy said chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, in particular, has taken decisive actions to address climate change. The AP government has also formulated an Integrated Clean Energy (ICE) policy for 2024, focusing on sustainable development through large-scale renewable energy projects, he said.
