Errant Hall Tickets Cause Problems for Students; Parents Stage Protest

Kurnool: Issuing hall tickets in the name of a closed school in Uravakonda has caused confusion for supplementary students appearing for Class X examinations.

The school management had shifted the institution to a new location and changed its name, but the hall tickets mentioned the old name. This caused a delay for students to reach the examination centre.

Student Boya Praveen from AP Model School in Chinnamustur had failed in the SSC and was appearing for the supplementary exams. His hall ticket mentioned Ushodaya English Medium School in Uravakonda as the exam centre, but he was allocated the Mahatma Junior College centre. When students enquired about the location of Ushodaya School, they found no such school existed in the Indira Nagar area. For, the school management had changed the institution's name and shifted it to a different location.

The school management at Mahatma Junior College complicated the situation further by initially denying entry to Praveen and others, saying they had reached late. The parents tried to explain the situation, but the management did not relent. Parents staged a protest, after which the students were finally allowed in for the exam.

Many more students faced similar issues.

Boya Amarnath, Praveen's father, said the mismatch between the centre’s name on the hall ticket and the actual venue caused all the problems. Parents criticised the lax attitude of the administration and sought a detailed probe.

Anantapur District Education Officer B. Varalakshmi said they had deputed a deputy educational officer to investigate the matter and would submit a detailed report to the Collector.
