Eyes in the Sky: Nandyal Police Deploy Drones To Combat Crime

Kurnool: Offenders engaging in illegal activities will now face a new layer of scrutiny from the skies. The Nandyal police are set to deploy drones to monitor and document antisocial behaviour within the Taluk police station limits. Plans are also in place to equip each subdivision in the district with drone cameras to bolster overall surveillance capabilities.

With a rising crime rate and the challenge of effectively covering the entire area, the police have faced difficulties comprehensively monitoring illegal activities. Limited personnel, equipment and time often prevent them from addressing potential issues promptly.

In response, the district police administration has launched raids targeting illicit liquor production, gambling and public alcohol consumption, placing the entire network on high alert. Initially, drone cameras will be deployed in areas near the district headquarters, with a gradual extension to other subdivisions.

District superintendent of police Adhiraj Singh Rana explained that, as part of visible policing efforts, drones will be used to monitor crime-prone areas around Nandyal town. This technology will aid in documenting public alcohol consumption and other antisocial activities, allowing for more effective case registration.

A current case has been filed against individuals involved in illegal activities and public alcohol consumption near the tank area under Nandyal Taluk police jurisdiction. The SP also noted that each subdivision will receive a drone camera to enhance surveillance of criminal elements and illegal activities.

Additionally, the beat system has been strengthened with both day and night patrols in theft-prone areas. Point books have been introduced, and Blue Colt vehicles, along with beat officers' vehicles, are now instructed to conduct continuous patrols to deter criminal activity.
