Farooq Directs Proposals for New SS Tank in Nandyal

Kurnool: Minister for law and justice and minority welfare N.M.D Farooq on Sunday directed officials to prepare proposals on a war footing basis for the construction of an additional summer storage tank on 150 acres of land near the existing facility.

The minister visited the identified site in the suburbs of Nandyal town and inspected the ongoing works under the Amrut (Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation) scheme.

Farooq instructed the municipal engineering officials to ensure adequate drinking water supply to the locals.

With the town's population surging after becoming the district headquarter, the municipal authorities have suggested taking specific measures to meet the escalating water demand.

Recounting his previous tenure as a minister when the current water tank was constructed, Farooq stated that areas like Moolasagaram, NGO Colony, Rama Temple, among others did not face drinking water issues due to the tank's presence.

However, considering the town's expansion with new residential colonies coming up, the minister has directed the preparation of proposals on a war footing for the construction of an additional 150-acre tank adjacent to the existing summer storage facility.

Farooq asserted that the new tank's construction must be prioritised.

The minister also instructed the authorities to expedite the completion of works undertaken under the Amrut scheme, a flagship initiative aimed at improving urban infrastructure and services.

During his visit, Farooq called upon intellectuals, businessmen, and social activists to come forward with suggestions and advice for the development of the newly formed Nandyal district.

Municipal commissioner Niranjan Reddy, municipal engineer Murthy Srinivas Reddy, 12th Ward corporator Shyamsunder, and other officials were present.
