Final rehearsal for operational demonstration held at RK Beach; Main event on January 4

Visakhapatnam: The Eastern Naval Command conducted a full-dress rehearsal of the Operational Demonstration at RK Beach on Thursday, which was witnessed by thousands. Three rehearsals were held to manage the crowd ahead of the main event scheduled for January 4.The event will be graced by the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, who will serve as the chief guest. Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, oversaw the final rehearsals on Thursday.

This high-energy display aims to showcase the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities while strengthening the bond between Visakhapatnam and the Eastern Naval Command.
The Operational Demonstration will feature a stunning display of maritime power, including warships, naval aircraft, and submarines. Highlights include high-speed manoeuvres by Hawk Fighter Jets, Combat Free Fall and Slithering Demonstrations from helicopters, and synchronized land-sea operations with warship firings.
The evening of January 4 promises a variety of spectacular performances at RK Beach, culminating in a traditional beating retreat ceremony by the ENC Band. Attendees can look forward to a mesmerizing Continuity Drill, a breathtaking fireworks display, drone shows, and a state-of-the-art laser spectacle that is sure to leave everyone in awe.
In addition to showcasing naval prowess, the event will feature a hornpipe dance performed by sea cadets from Visakhapatnam, celebrating maritime heritage. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed live on Indian Navy social media channels and Doordarshan.
Residents and visitors are urged to follow traffic guidelines issued by local authorities on January 4, including using designated parking areas and following specific routes to ensure smooth traffic flow.
Attendees are also requested to maintain cleanliness around RK Beach, as littering could pose hazards to naval aircraft during aerial demonstrations. The flying of drones, kites, or any other aerial objects is strictly prohibited on the day of the event.
