Financial support for temples in AP doubled to Rs 10,000: Minister Anam

TIRUPATI

The financial aid being provided to 5,400 temples in AP for incense, lamps and offerings has been increased from `5,000 to `10,000.
This was announced here on Thursday by Endowments minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy.
He said new temples will receive the same support under the ‘Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam’ scheme and emphasized the state government’s commitment to the cause of enhancing temple services and facilities.
The minister visited the Tirumala temple on Thursday and offered prayers to Lord Venkateswara. After darshan, he reviewed the complaint books at the Annaprasadam Complex. Devotees had expressed satisfaction with the facilities.
“I am glad to see the positive feedback from devotees about the amenities,” he said.
Anam stressed the importance of prioritising the needs of common devotees. “We are making arrangements to ensure better facilities for the ordinary folks. The quality of prasadam offerings has improved significantly,”, he claimed.
Referring to chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s vision to speed up Tirumala’s development, the minister said he would personally monitor the progress of such works every month. He also urged Hindu religious Mutts to focus on spiritual activities and warned against commercial activities and encroachments.
“Tirumala is not just a pilgrimage destination but a spiritual hub that must be preserved and promoted. We are committed to its development and to addressing the needs of the devotees,” Anam said.
