Visakhapatnam: Fire broke out on the sixth floor of a corporate hospital in Visakhapatnam on Sunday afternoon. There were no casualties or injuries, said fire department officials who quickly doused the fire.
Patients on the fifth and fourth floors of the hospital were evacuated to safer places. Vizag police chief Shanka Brata Bagchi rushed to the spot and monitored the rescue and relief measures.
Thick plumes of smoke billowed from the sixth floor (HR section) of the hospital which damaged the files and computers in the section. Fire service personnel brought the inferno and smoke under control by using Bronto sky lift. Since it was Sunday, the number of occupants in the HR section was very low.
Fire and police personnel have been on the job to ascertain the exact reasons for the mishap. Officials suspect that an electric short-circuit in the AC unit in the HR section could have caused the mishap.

He also emphasized fire safety protocol in hospitals to prevent, detect, and respond effectively to potential risks.
