Flood Victims to Receive Relief Package via DBT: Collector
Vijayawada: NTR district collector Dr. G. Srijana announced that the state government will transfer flood relief assistance directly to the bank accounts of eligible victims through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) on Wednesday.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Srijana detailed that the district administration completed a comprehensive flood assessment survey across 179 ward secretariats in the affected areas of Vijayawada. This survey was conducted fairly and transparently, with the report submitted to the state government.
Following directives from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who emphasized that no eligible flood victim should be overlooked, the district collector noted that special provisions were made to accept applications from households locked during the survey. A dedicated team collected these applications over the weekend.
Additionally, YSRC Vijayawada City President Malladi Vishnu, former Minister Vellampalli Srinivas, YSRC leader Sk Asif, and VMC mayor Rayana Bhagya Lakshmi met with Collector Srijana to request a flood survey in Ward 38 and the distribution of relief packages to residents in the 119, 159, and 194 ward secretariats. They called for enumeration teams to assess the flood damage in these areas.
Srijana confirmed that special teams have already been dispatched to Ward 38. However, she clarified that residents there are ineligible for the relief package as the ward did not fall under the enumeration survey.
