Former TTD Chairman Subba Reddy trashes Naidu's remarks on TTD laddu prasadam
Vijayawada: Former TTD chairman and YSRC parliamentarian, YV Subba Reddy, on Thursday warned Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of legal action against his recent “defamatory comments” about the sacred Tirumala Laddu Prasadam.
Speaking to the media at the party's central office here, Subba Reddy denied Naidu's charges of adulteration of ghee for the laddu prasadam preparations in recent years, and claimed that “TTD used only pure cow ghee and organic products” for this purpose.
“We had sourced 60kg of ghee daily from a dairy in Fatehpur, Rajasthan, with donor support. This cost around `10 crore over three years, fully covered by these donors,” he said.
TTD also brought 550 native cows from Rajasthan and Gujarat to it Goshalas and set up a plant to produce ghee locally, he said.
The former chairman said the ghee used for Laddu preparation was tested in the laboratory before use. More than ten tankers of substandard ghee were rejected and sent back during the term of the YSRC government, he said.
Subba Reddy explained, “We have modernised the laboratory with assistance from the Central Food Technology Research Institute (CFTRI) in Mysore. Naidu is hiding all these facts.”
“Naidu’s remarks were offensive and hurt the feelings of Hindus worldwide,” he said.
Subbareddy said “no political leader would speak in such a disrespectful way about the holy Laddu.”
He offered to take an oath with his family at the feet of the deity to prove his honesty, and challenged Naidu to do the same with his family.
Subba Reddy warned Naidu that he would take legal action, including the filing of a defamation suit against the CM. “I am ready to go to the Supreme Court, if needed, to protect the sentiments of the devotees.”
He claimed that TTD maintained the highest standards in preparing Naivedyam and Prasadam during his period from 2019 to 2024, and improved the quality compared to what it was till 2019.
