Vijayawada: Hitting out at the former YSR Congress government for ruining the education sector in the state, Deepak Reddy, the chairman of Society for Employment Generation and Enterprise Development (SEGED), said that the recently released ASER (annual status of education report) was the ample proof indicating the downfall.
Speaking further, Deepak Reddy said that the YSRC government played with the lives of students. “According to the ASER report, the reading ability of third-grade students in government schools across the country increased from 16.3% in 2022 to 23.4% in 2024, however, in Andhra Pradesh, it declined from 22.6% in 2018 to 14.7% in 2024. This was the clear indication of foolishness of the Jagan Mohan Reddy government,” he said.
Pointing out the ASER report, he said that a similar decline in the reading proficiency of fifth-grade students (reading second-grade textbooks), which dropped from 57.1% in 2018 to 37.5% in 2024.
Criticizing the YSRC government for failing to fulfill the promises, Deepak Reddy said that there had been no appointments in five years despite assurances given to the unemployed teachers.
