Free travel for women after a study: Minister
Anantapur: Transport minister M. Ramprasad Reddy on Saturday disclosed that official teams are studying the free travel being made available to women in road transport corporation (RTC) buses in the states of Karnataka and Telangana.
“The study is to find out whether there have been any problems in the two states while implementing free travel for women. We will ensure that those issues do not crop up in Andhra Pradesh,” he remarked.
Ramprasad Reddy underlined that clear guidelines will be framed before providing free travel for women in the APSRTC buses.
The minister spoke to reporters when he arrived in Kadapa on Saturday after assuming charge as the minister of transport, youth and sports. He had the darshan at the Goddess Vijaya Durgamma Shrine in Kadapa, where temple authorities offered him the traditional welcome.
Ramprasad Reddy expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for making him the only minister in the cabinet from Kadapa, Annamayya, Chittoor and Tirupati districts. He assured that he will do justice to his post, while further strengthening the TDP in Kadapa area.
