GCC announces purchase prices for tribal produce

Visakhapatnam: Girijan Co-operative Corporation Ltd. (GCC) vice chairperson and managing director Kalpana Kumari reviewed proposals submitted by ITDA Project Officers, GCC divisional managers, and GPCM Society Managers across Andhra Pradesh. This culminated in a meeting with divisional managers and society managers, leading to significant decisions aimed at fostering the economic upliftment of tribal communities.

During the meeting, GCC announced purchase prices for Minor Forest Produce (MFP) and Agricultural Produce (AP) for 2024–25. These rates aim to enhance the financial stability and empowerment of tribal communities by offering fair compensation for their produce.

Kalpana Kumari emphasised the need for divisional and society managers to conduct extensive awareness campaigns in tribal areas to ensure communities are well-informed about the announced purchase prices. She stated, “This initiative will not only improve the financial well-being of the tribal communities but also strengthen their economic empowerment by providing better support for their produce.”
