Goa Regional Carrier Fly91 Launches Operations at Vijayawada Airport

Vijayawada: Goa-based regional carrier Fly91 officially launched its operations at Vijayawada airport on Friday at Gannavaram in Andhra Pradesh. The inauguration ceremony was attended by Andhra Pradesh Minister K Ravindra, Vijayawada Airport director M Lakshmikantha Reddy, and other dignitaries. Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu joined the programme virtually.

Speaking to reporters after the event, Minister K Ravindra said, "Today, from Vijayawada airport, Fly91 started its operations. In future, the operations will be extended. We have seven airports now, and we are aiming to expand to nine airports, under the scheme of UDAN."
Airport director Lakshmikantha Reddy highlighted the growing connectivity. He said,"Presently we have seven flights to Hyderabad, next week we will increase to nine flights between Hyderabad and Vijayawada." He further added that on the first day, 70 per cent occupancy was observed. "We hope people from the surrounding areas are going to get more opportunities for flying from Vijayawada," he said.

As per their website, the regional carrier has inducted planes, taking its fleet count to six ATR 72-600s and is expanding rapidly from its Hyderabad base. The expansion now takes place from Hyderabad with double daily operations to Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, and once a day service between Hyderabad – Hubballi and Bengaluru – Hubballi. The airline will also connect Solapur to Hyderabad with five flights a week service and increase frequency between Goa and Solapur to six flights per week.
