Godavari Water Level Decreases at Cotton Barrage

Vijayawada:The water level in the Godavari River has begun to fall, with the gauge at Sir Arthur Cotton Barrage in Dowleswaram measuring 12 feet and a discharge rate of 10.28 lakh cusecs as of 10:00 pm on Friday.

Water resources officials report that this decline suggests a gradual reduction in water levels. Earlier in the day, from 3:00 pm onwards, the discharge was recorded at 10.46 lakh cusecs, which has provided some relief to the authorities in the former Godavari districts.

The first warning was issued at the barrage at 10:15 pm on Thursday. After a period of rising levels, the water began to recede from 6:00 pm on Friday. The warning will be lifted once the water level falls below 11.75 feet at the barrage.
