Got Rare Honour from People: Naidu
Vijayawada: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu stated that the recognition he has received from the people of Andhra Pradesh is unprecedented for any leader in the state. He attributes this honour to his dedication and resilience, highlighting the physical and psychological challenges he endured without straying from his commitment to justice.
Naidu's remarks likely reference the overwhelming success of the Telugu Desam (TD) led NDA in recent elections, where they secured 164 out of 175 Assembly seats and 21 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats.
Reflecting on the past year, Naidu marked the one-year anniversary of his arrest on September 9, 2023, by the CID on charges related to a `371 crore misappropriation case involving the AP Skill Development Corporation. He recalled, “A year ago, without any evidence, a false case was filed against me, leading to my arrest. On that day, people from Andhra Pradesh and 80 countries worldwide rallied for me. Today, I am once again in a bus, this time at the Collectorate, addressing the hardships caused by rains and floods. The context has changed, but my commitment remains the same: then, people fought for me, and now I am fighting for them. The key is how one responds to such historical moments, and I find satisfaction in doing so. I remain ready to assist the people, regardless of the names I am called.”
Naidu also noted his involvement in other cases, including alleged irregularities in AP FiberNet and Amaravati Outer Ring Road projects. He challenged these allegations in the Supreme Court, seeking to overturn the FIR in the skill scam case. Naidu spent 53 days in Central Jail in Rajamendravaram during this period.
