Grand Novena prayers begin at Gunadala
Bishop Raja Rao highlights Pope Francis declaring 2025 as a Jubilee Year and the blessings of honoring Mother Mary in God's salvation plan.

The Grand Novena prayers for the Gundala Lurthu Maatha Mahotsavalu (Lourdes Mother Celebrations), one of South India’s largest Catholic pilgrimage events, commenced on Friday evening with great devotion.
Bishop T Joseph Raja Rao of the Vijayawada Diocese inaugurated the event alongside Monsignor Fr Muvvala Prasad, Vicar General Fr M Gabriele, Rector Fr Eleti William Jayaraju, and Directors Fr K Marianna and Fr T Sunil Raju. They unveiled the banner of Mother Mary at the shrine’s main church.
In his message, Bishop Raja Rao spoke of Pope Francis declaring 2025 as a Jubilee Year. He highlighted that Mother Mary was chosen as the Mother of God in His divine salvation plan and that honouring her brings blessings. Monsignor Fr Muvvala Prasad stated that the Novena prayers would continue for nine days, preparing devotees spiritually for the upcoming feast.
