Tirupati: Special secretary (Revenue) R.P. Sisodia on Wednesday formally inaugurated the renovated Sub-Collector’s Office in Madanapalle amid Vedic chants.

The office had been gutted in a fire accident during July last year. The fire destroyed nearly 2,000 important files. An in-depth investigation into the incident is still going on.
Addressing media on the occasion, Sisodia expressed satisfaction over the restoration of the office. He lauded the efforts of Madanapalle sub-collector Megha Swaroop in overseeing the restoration process.
Sisodia revealed that two revenue divisional officers (RDOs) and several staff members have been arrested in connection with the case. Recalling his visit to the office after the fire, the senior officer disclosed that he had personally received 484 petitions on various issues related to lands, nearly 80 per cent of which have been resolved. He assured that the remaining petitions too will be attended to soon.
Speaking about the shortage of deputy tahsildars and recruitment of tahsildars, Sisodia mentioned that direct recruitment for deputy tahsildar posts will be conducted shortly. He noted that a related case concerning promotions is pending in the AP High Court. He hoped the court would resolve the issue soon.
Those present at the inauguration included district collector Sridhar Chamakuri, joint collector Adarsh Rajendran, Madanapalle sub-collector Megha Swaroop, office staff and tahsildars of various mandals.
