GVMC Chief Orders Speeding Up of Bhogapuram Airport Road

Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation commissioner Ketan Garg directed officials of the GVMC engineering and town planning departments to expedite the development of various roads leading to the Bhogapuram Airport, making them available for public use at the earliest.

These works include widening of the road from Vepagunta to Pinagadi and the newly constructed road from Vepagunta to Juttada.

On Sunday, the commissioner, along with GVMC chief engineer P.V. Satyanarayana Raju, APTRANSCO electrical superintendent engineer, inspected the ongoing road development works in the Pendurthi zone from Vepagunta to Pinagadi and from Vepagunta to Juttada.

Ketan Garg first reviewed the four-kilometre road development works from Vepagunta to Pinagadi. He instructed officials to immediately remove obstacles, such as electrical poles, transformers, and temple surroundings, which are hindering the road expansion works.

The commissioner questioned the contractor and officials regarding the delay in laying the bitumen road despite the completion of development works. He directed them to complete the bitumen work without further delay. He instructed the Transo SE to relocate the obstructing electrical poles at the earliest to facilitate smooth road widening works.

Later, Ketan Garg inspected the newly developing 6.4-kilometre, 80-feet-wide road from Vepagunta to Juttada. He discussed with officials concerned defence land-related issues along the route. He asked them to resolve the matter at the earliest. He directed chief engineer Satyanarayana Raju to immediately take up bitumen road laying works.

Stating that the Bhogapuram Airport is expected to commence full-scale operations shortly, the commissioner ordered officials to complete the connectivity roads on priority basis, so that they can be made available for smooth vehicular movement to the public at the earliest.
