Halt trains at Anantapur, Gooty: MP to minister

Anantapur: As several trains are not being halted at Anantapur and other major stations in the district, Anantapur MP Ambika Lakshmi Narayana met the Union minister of state for Railways Veeranna Somanna in New Delhi on Monday. In his representation, the MP sought halts of several trains and highlighted the other problems faced by passengers.

The MP sought the halts of Rajdhani Express and Yesvantpur-Latur Express to stop at Anantapur railway station. Gooty station needs the halts of Andhra Pradesh Sampark Kranti Express, which runs between Tirupathi and New Delhi, Kongu Express, CBE-Nizamuddin Weekly and Karnataka Sampark Kranti Express, which stops in Agra. He also requested the halt of the Dharmavaram - Machilipatnam train at Rayalacheruvu station to facilitate Yadiki mandal passengers.
At Hindupur Railway station, the MP requested the stoppage of Vande Bharata Express for the convenience of the people of Hindupur. This stop would also be beneficial for passengers of the Penukonda and Madakasira areas. At Rayadurg Railway Station (South Western Railway), Tata Nagar to Yesvantpur, Mysore to Varanasi, Yesvantpur to Jaipur, Tirupathi - Dodahalli trains needed to stop.
The MP sought the running of Kondaveedu Express (Machilipatnam to Yesvantpur) daily to facilitate regular travel for passengers from Anantapur and the extension of Narsapur Express (Dharmavaram to Vijayawada) up to Anantapur Station. Since there are no toilets on the MEMU Train (No.66524/66523), running between Hindupur and Bangalore, passengers have been facing considerable difficulty during the nearly three-hour journey. The MP requested the necessary upgrades made to the train coaches.
