Depression Forms over Bay, Heavy Rain for AP from Today

Visakhapatnam: The well marked low pressure area has intensified into a depression and lay centered on Monday over central parts of south Bay of Bengal and adjoining East Equatorial Indian Ocean about 600 km southeast of Trincomalee, 880 km southeast of Nagapattinam, 980 km southeast of Puducherry and 1,050 km south southeast of Chennai.

It is likely to move northwestwards and intensify into a deep depression during the next 24 hours. Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move northwestwards towards Tamil Nadu-Sri Lanka coasts during the subsequent two days.

In its warning issued for next five days, the IMD, Amarvati, said heavy rains are likely at isolated places over south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema from November 26 during which the depression would be intensified into deep depression. North coastal Andhra Pradesh would receive rains from November 29 to December 1.

Squally winds with speed reaching from 40 kmph to 55 kmph are also likely to prevail over the next five days.

The IMD issued an advisory to the fishermen not to venture into the sea till the end of this month.
