Heavy rainfall likely for AP on Dec 11, 12
Visakhaptnam: Heavy rainfall and thunderstorms accompanied by lightning at isolated places are forecast for south coastal as well as Rayalaseema districts from December 11 to 12. This is due to formation of a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal, the meteorological department has stated.
The low-pressure area persists over southeast Bay of Bengal and adjoining east Equatorial Indian Ocean, with the associated cyclonic circulation extending up to middle tropospheric levels. It is likely to move west-north-westwards and become more marked on Monday, IMD said on Sunday.
“It is very likely to continue to move west-north-westwards thereafter and reach over southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka-Tamil Nadu coasts on Dec 11. Parts of coastal AP and Rayalaseema experienced rainfall between Saturday morning and Sunday morning.”
Parts of the coastal AP and Rayalaseema regions will experience light to moderate rainfall on December 9 and December 10, it said.
In view of these, the government has directed all collectors and joint collectors to take necessary precautions.
The advisory asked the officials to inform the farmers to shift the harvested paddy (likely to be affected due to rain) to rice mills, not to harvest crops during rainfall, and provide tarpaulins to the farmers to cover the harvested paddy wherever traditional heaps method is not followed by farmers.
