Heavy Rains Forecast in AP from Today

Visakhapatnam:Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rains in isolated areas of north coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on Sunday, heavy rains in isolated places of north and south coastal AP on Monday, the day a low pressure is likely to form over west central Bay of Bengal.

Rayalaseema may also have isolated heavy rains on September 24 and September 25.

The IMD report said under the influence of two upper air cyclonic circulations, a low- pressure area is likely to form over northwest and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal around Monday. The weather system may trigger heavy rains in parts of the state.

The weather office said rainfall occurred at many places over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and one or two places over Rayalaseema between Friday morning and Saturday morning. However, the southwest monsoon has been normal over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, and weak over Rayalaseema.

During the last 24 hours ending at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Addanki in Bapatla district and Sullurpeta (Tirupati) recorded the highest rainfall of 6 cm each, followed by 5 cm rainfall in Amalapuram (Konaseema), 4 cm in Darsi (Prakasam) and 3 cm each in Karamchedu (Bapatla), Tanuku (West Godavari), Tuni (Kakinada), Tada (Tirupati) and Nagari (Chittoor).

The weather agency mentioned that there is no specific warning for fishermen in Andhra Pradesh.

It went on to state that the conditions are becoming favourable for withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from parts of West Rajasthan and Kutch from September 23.
