History created with PK’s Jana Sena winning all seats it contested

KAKINADA: For the first time in history of Indian politics, Jana Sena Party of Power Star Pawan Kalyan has won cent per cent of the seats it contested in Andhra Pradesh general elections.

The JSP won all the 21 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats that it contested in AP as an alliance partner of Telugu Desam and Bharatiya Janata Party. It is further believed that Pawan Kalyan’s campaign has considerably contributed to its alliance partners’ Telugu Desam Party and Bharatiya Janata Party win too.

Significantly, Pawan Kalyan had played a critical role in bringing BJP and TD together to pave the way for an unprecedented victory in the state, with the ruling YSRC reduced to mere 10 seats.

Interestingly, Pawan Kalyan has defeated Vanga Geetha of YSRC, who had never been defeated previously in her political career, by a huge margin of 69,169 votes. Pawan Kalyan secured 1,32,725 votes out of the 2,04,912 votes polled, whereas Vanga Geetha could secure only 63,556 votes. This is when Pithapuram had elected Geetha as an MLA and MP previously, hoping she would develop their constituency. Now, the town’s voters have posited their faith in Pawan Kalyan, who has promised to bring in massive development in Pithapuram constituency and its surrounding areas.

During the election campaign, Pawan Kalyan had appealed to religious sentiments, invoking the blessings of Lord Dattatreya.

Pithapuram people and Jana Sena cadres say due to Pawan Kalyan’s hectic efforts, the alliance emerged victorious with 164 seats in the state. Town’s former MLA and Telugu Desam leader S.V.S.N. Varma described Pawan Kalyan as “Gabbar Singh”, a super hit film of the power star. Citing the star’s another hit film “Attarintiki Daredi”, the former legislator said Pawan Kalyan will now go to his “attavarillu (assembly)”.

Jana Sena candidate from Kakinada Rural constituency Pantham Venkateswara Rao (Nanaji) has won with a majority of 72,040 votes, much higher than that of Pawan Kalyan. Nanaji defeated YSRC candidate and former minister Kurasala Kannababu. Kakinada Rural is contiguous to Pithapuram.
