Horsley Hills in AP set for tourism boost with Rs 200 crore investment plans

Tirupati: The serene Horsley Hills in Annamayya district is set to develop as a premier tourism destination, following an initiative from Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu. District collector Sridhar on Tuesday announced the government’s plans for investment of Rs 200 crore from renowned hospitality firm, the Oberoi Group.

The collector, accompanied by Oberoi Group representatives and tourism officials, visited Horsley Hills to assess the requirements for this project. Later, he said the government aims at promotion of adventure tourism, trekking, camping activities and establishment of high-end hotels there.

"The Oberoi representatives’ visit followed an offer from the chief minister for governmental support. After discussions at the Oberoi board, the project works may commence within two months," the collector said.

The collector said this could give a boost to local employment and income. He also outlined plans for a tourism circuit linking Horsley Hills with nearby attractions such as Gurramkonda Fort, Veligallu Reservoir, and Tallapaka - the birthplace of Annamacharya.

This circuit would further connect to major cities like Tirupati, Bengaluru and Kadapa.

According to the collector, the Oberoi Group is also exploring the possibility of establishing a helipad service for VVIPs from Tirupati and Bengaluru. The group's architect has visited the site to evaluate development opportunities while preserving the area's natural beauty.

The collector said the initiative promises to be a game-changer for the region's tourism sector, with the government and private sector collaborating to unlock the full potential of Horsley Hills.

Joint collector Adarsh Rajendran, Madanapalle sub-collector Megha Swaroop and other officials were also present.
