Chikkala Vasantha, a native of Gajuwaka in Visakhapatnam, married Nagendra Babu in 2024. The police said, she died due to sexual harassment by her husband.
According to police, Nagendra suffered from a neurological condition and was on medication shortly after wedding. He reportedly purchased a bottle of supplements every month, containing 60 tablets, and consumed two per day, claiming they were protein and vitamin pills. However, relatives believe he was using them to enhance his sexual performance.
Family members revealed that Nagendra forced himself on Vasantha even during her menstrual cycle, causing excessive bleeding that eventually led to her losing consciousness.They also alleged that he was addicted to pornography and forced his wife to imitate scenes from adult videos.
Due to his low sperm count, Vasantha could not conceive, adding to the strain in their marriage. Unable to endure the physical and emotional torment, she might have taken her own life.

Meanwhile, the victim’s mother accused her daughter's in-laws of foul play, alleging that they murdered Vasantha and made it look like a suicide.
The police took Nagendra into custody and sent him to judicial remand after registering a case. Gopalapatnam police are treating this as a special case and have sought a team of doctors to conduct the postmortem.
