Tirupati: A Hyderabad-based woman lost Rs 11,200 in a scam while attempting to secure passes for Srivari Seva voluntary service at the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
According to sources, Mandala Lakshmi Sheshavenamma made multiple unsuccessful attempts online to obtain passes for her group’s participation in Srivari Seva. She then came across a WhatsApp group titled “Srivari Seva 15”, managed by an individual named Krishna Rao. Trusting its authenticity, she contacted him for assistance. Rao assured her he could arrange the passes but demanded Rs 800 per person.
Unaware that Srivari Seva is a free service provided by TTD, Lakshmi transferred Rs 11,200 to Rao. Upon arriving at Tirumala, she realised she had been scammed. She then lodged a complaint with TTD’s Vigilance Wing, following which an FIR was registered at Tirumala Police Station. The matter is under investigation.
