I-T Raids on Assets of Bhimavaram Ex-MLA Continues
Kakinada: The Income Tax officials continued raids on the fourth day on Saturday on the properties of former Bhimavaram MLA Grandhi Srinivas. The raids were conducted at Bhimavaram, Nagayalanka, Singarayakonda, Chennai and also on the properties and houses of his seven relatives and followers at Bhimavaram. It is said that the officials are assessing the election expenses (unauthorised accounts) and factory accounts and have found huge quantity of gold and other valuables. It is said that the officials kept an eye on the movement of Grandhi Srinivas and his properties for past six months before the elections. Meanwhile, there are allegations on Srinivas that he created hurdles in the construction of Bhimavaram bypass road. His political opponents allege that Srinivas tried to change the route of the road in his favour and that’s why the construction of the road was delayed. He had won the assembly elections defeating Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan in the 2019 elections.
Officials plea to sand customers
East Godavari district collector P. Prashanthi suggested the sand customers should inform the officials if dealers were collecting any charges except the excavation charges. She along with joint collector S. Chinna Ramudu, Kovvuru revenue divisional officer Rani Sushmitha, mines assistant director Bhushan Reddy and others inspected several sand ramps at Theaparru village in Peravali mandal, Jeedigunta village in Nidadavole mandal and others. The joint collector said that open reaches and desiltation points were available for the customers. He said that people can take the sand free of cost and should pay only the excavation charges.
