IIT Tirupati Hosts Pan-IIT World of Technology Satellite Event

TIRUPATI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Tirupati hosted the Pan-IIT World of Technology (PIWOT) Satellite event on Thursday, drawing over 100 participants from academia, industry, and government to discuss advancements and collaborations in technology.

The event, organised in association with WHEELS Global and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Andhra Pradesh, began with inaugural remarks by IIT Tirupati director Prof K.N. Satyanarayana. Key speakers included Dr V. Murali Krishna, president of CII AP, and Ratan Agarwal and Yadav Murti Sankaran from the WHEELS foundation. An MoU was signed between IIT Tirupati and WHEELS Foundation by Sasidhar Gumma, Dean of Global Engagement, and Ratan Agarwal, President of WHEELS.
A panel discussion on "Industry-Academia Collaboration for Viksit Bharat" addressed innovation and sustainable development, featuring Dr Govind Rao from the University of Maryland, C. Srinivasa Raju, and Satish Kamat of Sri City Integrated Business City.
The afternoon session focused on "Bridging Technology and Rural Development," exploring technology's role in inclusive rural growth. Plenary sessions featured talks by Ramakanth Desai on the startup ecosystem and Dr Raghavan Ramanan on academia-industry partnerships for ESG innovation.
The event concluded with visits to IIT Tirupati’s laboratories and a research poster exhibition, highlighting the institute's ongoing projects and facilities.
