Several parts of Andhra Pradesh to have rains until December 1

Visakhapatnam: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a Red Alert (extremely heavy rainfall) for Tirupati and Nellore districts for Friday as very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in the two districts under the influence of the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal. The IMD also issued an Orange Alert (heavy rainfall) for the Prakasam, Sri Sathya Sai and YSR Kadapa districts. The weather agency said there would be fairly widespread rains in south coastal Andhra Pradesh (SCAP) and Rayalaseema regions; the north coastal Andhra Pradesh (NCAP) would receive scattered rains on Friday.
The IMD said the deep depression over Southwest Bay of Bengal moved slowly and lay centred about 100 km east-northeast of Trincomalee, 320 km southeast of Nagapattinam, 410 km southeast of Puducherry and 490 km south-southeast of Chennai. It could move nearly north-northwestwards skirting Sri Lanka's coast and intensify into a cyclonic storm on Thursday night or Friday morning. Then, it will continue to move north-northwestwards and cross the north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry coasts between Karaikal and Mahabalipuram around November 30 (Saturday) as a deep depression.
The IMD said that Tirupati, Nellore and Prakasam districts continue to be under watch as an Orange Alert has been issued for these districts for Saturday. A Yellow Alert (moderate rainfall) has been given for the Chittoor, YSR Kadapa, Annamayya and Sri Sathya Sai districts for Saturday. Parts of the Nellore, Annamayya and Prakasam districts experienced drizzles on Thursday.
The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority advised farmers in parts of the SCAP and Rayalaseema regions to take necessary measures to keep the crops safe. The officials suggested the farmers keep the harvested paddy and other crops safe as rains are expected across the coastal districts till December 1.
