Independence Day celebrated with patriotic fervour in Tirupati, Chittoor, and Nellore
Tirupati: The 78th Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic zeal across Tirupati, Chittoor, and Nellore districts, featuring cultural events, parades, and exhibitions showcasing the achievements of various government departments.
In Nellore, Municipal Affairs Minister Dr. Ponguru Narayana hoisted the National Flag at the Police Parade Grounds, accompanied by Collector O. Anand and SP Krishna Kanth. After receiving the guard of honour, the minister presented a district progress report, reaffirming the government's commitment to modernising villages and towns, creating a corruption-free society. He highlighted several initiatives, including the PM Kisan scheme, which provided Rs 3.31 crore to 165,940 farmer families, and the distribution of subsidised green manure seeds. Nellore district was also recognised for its achievements in reducing infant mortality and anaemia among pregnant women.
In Tirupati, Endowments Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy, Collector S. Venkateswar, and SP L. Subba Rayudu inspected the police parade at the Police Training Centre. The minister paid tribute to the state's freedom fighters and highlighted various welfare schemes. He also distributed certificates, mementos, and medals to outstanding government officials and police personnel.
In Chittoor, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav, along with MP D. Prasada Rao, Collector Sumit Kumar, and SP Manikanta Chandolu, unfurled the Tricolour at the police parade grounds. Yadav emphasised the government's comprehensive development initiatives, including the appointment of 16,000 teachers, expansion of mobile medical units, implementation of food security measures, and women’s empowerment programmes.
