Inscription of Vikramaditya VI Found at a Temple in Telangana

VIJAYAWADA: An inscription of Kalyani Chalukya king Vikramaditya VI, engraved on the four sides of a pillar, has been discovered at the Markandamani Temple in Chandippa village, Ranga Reddy district, Telangana, by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

The inscription, written in Kannada, is dated to CV year 25, Vishu, Karttika, su 5, Brhaspativara, which corresponds to 28 October 1101 CE.
According to ASI director (Epigraphy) K. Munirathnam Reddy, it records the gift of 24 mattar of block soil land, half a mattar of wetland, and a mattar of garden to conduct festivities and provide food offerings to the god Someswarar at Chandippa agrahara, donated by Dhoni Bhattopadhya.
Additionally, it documents the gift of lands to the same deity by the Mahajanas of the village during the reign of Tribhuvanmalladeva (Vikramaditya VI) from his capital at Kalyana.
