Internet Connection Mandatory In All Govt Schools: Minister Lokesh

VIJAYAWADA: Electronics and IT Minister Nara Lokesh has said public confidence in government schools should be raised through quality education.
The minister reviewed with education officials and others the implementation of the Supporting Andhra Learning Transformation (SALT) project in collaboration with the World Bank on Friday.
He sought to know the reasons for delay in implementation of the SALT project. The state government had spent thousands of crores on schemes like Nadu-Nedu and SALT, he noted, and told the officials to achieve better results through quality education.
He said that in the next five years, government schools should be on par with private schools in the quality of education. The Internet would be made mandatory in all government schools.
The Pratham representatives were advised to make changes in the design so that the assessment at the primary school level is more scientific. The Educational Initiatives Organisation has been directed to focus on digitized assessments more effectively and connecting it online.
The minister said people’s elected representatives from CM down would attend the Model Parent Teacher Meetings to know the sentiments of the parents and involve mothers for better performance of government schools.
“We must make changes in the curriculum from the next academic year so that students are trained to respect women,” he said.
Principal secretary to School Education Kona Sasidhar, director Vijayaramaraju, director of Intermediate Education Kritika Shukla, Samagra Siksha PD Srinivasa Rao and others were present.
