Jagan Mohan Reddy to meet activists, visit homes to instil confidence in them
Vijayawada: YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has expressed the optimism that the people would return his party to power in the 2029 polls.
“Every family and every house in the state knows what good we have done to them. The people will not forget the good governance provided by the YSRC. They will see through Chandrababu Naidu's games and bring the YSRC back to power with redoubled enthusiasm,” he said at the party’s election review meeting on Thursday.
He said, “Today I say Jagan has age to his side, and strength along with age. It's okay to lose the polls. Jagan always believes that telling lies and cheating others for power are not justifiable acts.”
He outlined plans to reconnect with the public and strengthen the party's grassroots presence. "We will do programmes to get closer to the people and fight issues on their behalf. Despite having fewer number of MLAs in the assembly, we will continue to stand with the people and address their concerns," he said.
The YSRC chief urged his supporters to remain hopeful and resilient. "Remove the pain of defeat from your mind. Realise that we are not defeated. We have done good in every house, and we will be able to remain among the people with respect. As time goes by, our degree of affection will manifest itself. We will win with a record majority in next elections," he said.
Expressing surprise over the results of the Assembly elections, Jagan Mohan Reddy said, "Despite implementing 99 per cent of our manifesto promises and bringing revolutionary changes in education and other fields, the outcome of the polls reminded me of Shakuni's dice. However, we cannot speak without evidence," he said.
"I will meet the party activists in the coming days. I will come to every lost worker's home and reassure them. We must stand by our activists who have supported us through thick and thin. They have carried our flags and endured hardships. We owe it to them to protect and support every social media worker and volunteer who stood with us," he said.
Acknowledging the party's strong voter base, Jagan Mohan Reddy pointed out that the YSRC garnered 40 per cent of the votes. This was only a 10 per cent decrease from the 2019 elections. I guess this was due to the deceptive tactics of Chandrababu Naidu.”
"There are a few crores of people who believe in us. If we step aside, they will all lose. Lakhs of workers, thousands of leaders and hundreds of our candidates will also lose their hope. People and leaders who believed in us will also lose everything. We should not give place to despair under any circumstance,” the former CM said.
Terming the elections as a Mahabharata Battle, Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “Now this is just an interval. The fight is between the Kauravas and Pandavas. In the end, dharma, trustworthiness and honesty must win. Everyone returns victorious like Arjuna. God is watching things from above us all. He is our companion and guide. We believe in people and God. Let's take bold steps.”
