Jagan quotes CAG saying YSRC’s AP debt only Rs 6.4 lakh crore
Vijayawada: YSRC president and former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy criticised the budget presented by N. Chandrababu Naidu government, alleging it reveals organised crime behind Naidu's governance.
Speaking to media here on Wednesday, he charged that the budget presentation exercise is an attempt to cover up the inefficiency of the NDA alliance government in implementing its super six and other poll promises. The former chief minister gave a detailed rebuttal of what he called “bundle of lies” by presenting figures ratified in the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) reports and tabled in the State Legislative Assembly.
He said, “Firstly, Naidu, his associates and friendly media, in an orchestrated and organised manner, spread lies about AP’s debt varying from Rs 10 lakh crore to Rs 14 lakh crore. But the actual document presented in the house and CAG report have mentioned the debt figure of only Rs 6.4 lakh crore.”Jagan Mohan Reddy maintained that despite Covid, the YSRC government has shown more financial discipline than the 2014–19 Chandrababu Naidu regime, apart from better performance on many counts. He further pointed out that during 2014–19, the Naidu government had drawn Rs 28,457 crore above the FRBM limit, which negatively impacted the YSRC government that took over.
He maintained that the sharp decline mentioned in the per capita income by the NDA coalition is false. “They are trying to project as though AP’s finances had been mishandled during our term. This is only to divert the attention of people from the NDA coalition’s inability to fulfil its super six and other election promises. The figures and data presented in the State Legislative Assembly show that the political rhetoric they carried out prior to the elections had been totally false and baseless,” the former CM underlined.
Jagan Mohan Reddy maintained that the Naidu government could not even fulfil its small promises like free bus travel for women and three free LPG cylinders, leave alone major promises involving more financial involvement. The former chief minister said despite being six months in office, the coalition had not provided a single job, while when they formed the government in 2019, they created 1.3 lakh jobs in village secretariats and inducted 2.66 lakh volunteers, besides taking RTC employees into the state government’s fold.
