Jagan Reddy Files Writ Petition to Restore Full Security Cover
Vijayawada: Former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has filed a writ petition in the High Court on Monday, seeking restoration of his security cover to the levels that existed on June 3, 2024.
Seeking a court directive to the state government, Jagan Reddy stressed the importance of the security cover he had as chief minister. Its continuation was a must in view of the present political environment in the state, he stressed.
The YSRC chief stated in petition that his security was reduced to 59 personnel without any intimation to him from June 4. Now leading his party’s MLAs in the assembly, Jagan Reddy noted that the category of protection for him has not been downgraded from the highest, namely Zplus.
Jagan said, “In reality, only 2 personal security officers guard me at any given point of time.”
Notably, in 2019, Jagan Reddy was attacked with a cock-fighting knife at the Vishakapatnam airport, resulting in a lacerated injury on his shoulder and a surgery. Even prior to becoming the CM, he was provided with high security keeping in view of the tense political situation in the state. After he became the CM in 2019, he got Zplus security.
