Jagan says he will tour AP after TD-BJP-JS honeymoon

VIJAYAWADA: YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has asked YSRC leaders to give some time to the newly formed Telugu Desam, BJP, and Jana Sena government to complete their honeymoon.

He held a meeting with YSRC MLCs at the party office in Tadepalli on Thursday in view of the AP assembly session starting from next week. Telugu Desam government is expected to introduce a bill to repeal the Land Titling Act during the new assembly’s first session.

YSRC has a majority in the AP Legislative Council, with 38 of the total 58 MLCs belonging to the party. TD has only eight MLCs, while two belong to the PDF, two are independents and six seats are vacant.

Speculation is rife that as TD government will find it a Herculean task to get bills passed in the AP Legislative Council, it is trying to attract YSRC MLCs into the party.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has already put his signature on the document repealing the AP Land Titling Act after assuming charge on Thursday. The relevant bill is likely to be put in the assembly and further in the council. While the bill will pass smoothly in the assembly, it will face bottlenecks in the council.

At his meeting with the YSRC MLCs, Jagan Mohan Reddy first discussed the election results and collected opinions of leaders. He asked his MLCs to be cautious about the conspiracies of the ruling alliance to break them. He announced that he will soon start touring the state and meet victims of the TD attacks in the aftermath of elections.

Jagan Mohan Reddy stated, “You don't need to panic over these results. In the last five years, we have implemented 99 per cent of the promises we made in our manifesto, which has never happened in the past history. We provided ₹2.7 lakh crore to people without any discrimination. We went to polls only after getting the people's acceptance. I do not know what happened in the election. Five years have passed from 2019 to 2024. Similarly, years 2024 to 2029 will also pass. What we need to remember is that we have risen in the past from similar situations. We will rise again,” he declared.

He asked his party faithful not to forget that YSRC has received 40 per cent of the votes. “The good we have done is still remembered by the people. Election results are like Shakuni's dice. Like Shishupala, we must count Chandrababu Naidu's mistakes. After that, we will fight strongly."

Jagan Mohan Reddy maintained that the alliance may try to silence YSRC in the AP Legislative Assembly. “Let’s fight strongly in the AP Legislative Council," he told his party MLCs.
