Jagan slams CM for failing to fulfil poll promises

Vijayawada: Former chief minister and YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Saturday slammed the TD-led government in the state for failing to fulfil its poll promises and misleading people with false financial claims.

In his post on X, he referred to the promises made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu at the time of polls, including creating wealth, managing AP’s ₹14 lakh crore debt and fulfilling all his promises.

With regard to the CM releasing white papers on several issues, Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that all these papers are misleading. “They are only to deceive people. Naidu is trying to evade responsibility for fulfilling his promises on the pretext of lack of funds,” he maintained.

The former chief minister said several schemes like Amma Vodi and Rythu Bharosa are being neglected under Naidu’s governance. He criticised the government for lack of action on schemes like Arogyasri, pension deliveries and supply of ration at home. He went on to charge that important educational initiatives like TOEFL training and distribution of educational kits are being undermined, while mid-day meal, English as medium of instruction and sanitation in schools and villages are being neglected.

The YSRC chief maintained that the crime rate in the state is rising due to poor maintenance of law and order in the state. He wondered whether or not poll promises like job creation and financial assistance for fishermen would be implemented.

On financial mismanagement, the former CM pointed out that in June 2024, AP’s total debt, including loans from power companies and guarantees, stood at ₹7.48 lakh crore, of which ₹4.08 lakh crore had been inherited from the previous government. He said while the debt growth rate under the previous YSRC regime was 12.9 per cent, it was 21.63 per cent during Naidu’s previous term.

Jagan Mohan Reddy urged Chandrababu Naidu to stop misleading people with false statistics. He asked the CM to start fulfilling TD’s poll promises, including “Super Six”.
