Vijayawada: Mines Minister Kollu Ravindra has ordered a stop to the execution of lease order given to the YS Venkat Reddy Barytes Mines. He would take up an inquiry into the “deviations” and take the culprits to task.
In a statement here on Wednesday, the minister said, “The mines director had issued a lease order by using his discretionary power on January 15, 2025 for White Barytes Mines located at Vemuganti Mandal in Pulivendula assembly segment. The leaseholder was a relative of ex-CM, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The lease order was issued for allotment of barytes in violation of certain norms. Hence, the execution of the lease order was put on hold.”
Based on a preliminary inquiry, it was found that the former mines director Venkata Reddy had issued permission to the firm, by violating the norms. An official close to the former minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy made efforts to move the file and got a circular released for issue of the lease order, he added.
