Minister Lokesh says Jagan Reddy grabbed lands for YSRC offices

VIJAYAWADA: Minister Nara Lokesh has flayed former chief minister and YSR Congress president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, saying he erected party offices like palaces in 26 districts across the state.

The minister alleged on his social media page that the government of Jagan Reddy had allocated 42 acres of land in 26 districts for building YSRCP offices. These land parcels were allocated on lease at a nominal cost of Rs 1,000 l for 33 years.

He also posted more than a dozen pictures of these offices that are under construction.

Lokesh stated, “Jagan, this state is your grandfather Raja Reddy's Jagira (estate)! You are building palaces with Rs 500 crore stolen from the people. 4,200 poor people can be given plots in the 42 acres occupied by you. Instead, you could have built houses for 25,000 poor people with this Rs 500 crore. What is this madness?”

Meanwhile, TD leaders Bonda Umamaheswara Rao and K Pattabhiram claimed that many shocking facts came to light with the demolition of YSRC's illegal structures. “Officials are now trying to find out how the YSRC grabbed lands in prime localities in 26 district headquarters for building the party offices.”

The TD leaders said, “What is shocking is that the market value of these lands is around `900 crore. The YSRC, misusing its power, has not even acquired the permission to construct these buildings. They alleged that these lands belonged to departments like irrigation and endowments, or assigned lands or prohibited areas.

“The estimated expenditure for each building was Rs 15cr to Rs 20cr. The buildings are planned in such a way that it has a rich interior and furniture. Experts from the construction industry estimate that the total cost of these buildings and the infrastructure could be as high as Rs 2,000 crore,” they added.
