AP government targets December 2027 for project completion; seeks Centre’s approval for key components.
Vijayawada: Union Jal Shakti Minister, CR Patil, would shortly visit the Polavaram irrigation project to ascertain the progress of works.
Water resources minister Nimmala Ramanaidu met the central minister on the sidelines of the 2nd All India state water ministers’ conference at Udaipur in Rajasthan on Wednesday. Ramanaidu thanked him for the support AP was getting from the Centre for various irrigation projects and submitted a report on the ongoing works and the funds required for those.
Patil told the minister that Prime Minister Modi was taking special care on the Polavaram project and said he would visit the Polavaram project soon.
Ramanaidu said the state government has fixed the time for completion of the project for December, 2027. He urged Patil to give early approvals for the technical designs for the project components.
The AP minister also explained to Patil the timelines of the project, like completion of execution of diaphragm wall by this December, and the progress of the D-wall works. He sought the Centre’s nod for taking up the ECRF dam construction.
