Jana Sena cadres attack TD leader Varma in Pithapuram
KAKINADA: Jana Sena leaders and cadres attacked Telugu Desam leader S.V.S.N. Varma on Friday night at Vannepudi village in Gollaprolu mandal of Pithapuram constituency in Kakinada district.
The window panes of Varma’s car got broken in the attack.
Jana Sena cadres went berserk after the TD leader admitted sarpanch of Vannepudi village Kanda Subrahmanyam alias Nagababu into the Telugu Desam.
Varma had earlier gone to Nagababu’s house at Vannepudi village for dinner, honouring the latter’s plea. While he had been returning to Pithapuram by car, Jana Sena cadres stopped his car and demanded him get down from the car. But Varma did not.
The JS activists then broke the window panes of the car and tried to drag Varma out. In the interim, police reached the spot and rescued Varma.
The TD leader told reporters at Gollaprolu that his intention had been only to strengthen his party. He accused Kakinada Lok Sabha Jana Sena winning candidate Tangella Uday Srinivas of being behind the attack. He said he will submit a report to Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan in this regard.
