Tirupati: The Jana Sena has called for the immediate handover of YSRC buildings to the government, claiming they were constructed on lands originally intended for the poor.
The Jana Sena leaders, led by district general secretary G. Kishore, staged a protest at the YSRC office in Janardhana Reddy colony, Venkateswara Puram in Nellore city on Tuesday. Speaking to the media here, Kishore alleged that the YSRC rule was marked by arbitrary decisions. He criticised the previous government for hesitating 66 times before providing 6 cents of land to the poor and ultimately failed. “Instead, YSRC leaders encroached on these lands to build party offices", he alleged.
Kishore attributed the YSRC’s waning influence to what he termed "authoritarian inclinations'', accusing the party of appropriating both government-allocated TIDCO lands and private holdings for their organisational infrastructure. He also claimed that YSRC chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy entrusted the construction of these buildings to Ramky Infra, led by his close associate.
Kishore also alleged that in reciprocation, the former chief minister bestowed upon Ramky Infra 50 acres in Anakapalli while only compensating for 10 acres. "This evokes memories of the antiquated barter system, which Jagan appears to be resurrecting", he remarked. "Approximately 42.24 acres across 26 districts were allocated for YSRC offices, with an estimated value of Rs 688 crore," he claimed, calling for a comprehensive investigation and a legal action.
