JS Corporator Seeks Cancellation of Land Allotment in Visakhapatnam

Petition alleges violation of agreement, calls for government action on disputed Yendada land

Visakhapatnam: Jana Sena corporator Peethala Murthy Yadav has filed a petition with the Revenue Department, seeking the cancellation of land allotment made to the Hayagreeva Farms and Developers in Yendada Village, Visakhapatnam district.

Murthy Yadav said approximately 12.51 acres of land in Survey No 92/3 had been allocated to the developers in 2008 through GO Ms 1447. But the agreement was meant for constructing cottages for elderly people and orphans.

The petition, addressed to the principal secretary, revenue, alleged that the developers violated these terms by building luxury cottages and initiating the process for land alienation.

He said the matter has been in litigation since 2022, when he filed WP (PIL) 160/2022 after observing continued illegal construction despite the issuing of a show-cause notice by the district collector. On December 6, 2023, a high court division bench directed the Revenue Department to make a decision based on the collector's show cause notice in November 2022 and the replies submitted by Hayagreeva Farms and Developers.

Despite the court order and a detailed report from the district collector highlighting "violations and atrocious activities" by the developers, no action has been taken by the authorities, the petitioner said.

The corporator expressed a concern that the TD-led alliance government, which took charge in June 2024, has not acted on this matter. He has sought immediate cancellation of the land assignment to restore the property to the authorities so as to put this land to “effective public use.”
