JS seeks report on encroachments by Sarada Peetham in Tirumala

TIRUPATI: Jana Sena's Tirupati constituency in-charge Kiran Rayal has raised serious concerns over the unauthorised constructions and misuse of religious properties particularly by the Visakha Sarada Peetham in Tirumala. A Jana Sena committee, led by Kiran Rayal, conducted an inspection into the alleged encroachments by certain mutts near the Gogarbham Dam area of Tirumala on Monday. Speaking to the media after the inspections, Kiran alleged that the constructions by the Sarada Peetham rival five-star hotels in scale and luxury. He claimed that the YSRC leaders had rented out mutt properties and earned substantial amounts and with some rooms being given at exorbitant rates.
Highlighting the alleged illegal construction of a six-storey building by Sarada Peetham, Kiran said that the situation in Tirumala is dire with rampant encroachments and looting. “The Jana Sena will file a formal complaint with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer (EO) demanding the demolition of these encroachments," he said and urged the devotees to unite in safeguarding the TTD properties.
Kiran alleged that the previous trust board under the YSRC regime regularized additional lands occupied by some mutts, including Visakha Sarada Peetham, on the recommendation of the former TTD EO. "Sarada Peetham was allotted 5,000 sq. ft by the TTD but constructed buildings over 9,800 sq. ft, adding extra floors beyond the approved G+3 plans and encroaching on significant land," he stated.
"In January following the board's approval, it was decided to regularize the land of Sarada Peetham and Mouna Swamy Mutt. However, the board resolution was kept under wraps, despite rules stating that TTD trust board resolutions should be made public after meetings", the Jana Sena leader claimed.
He also demanded the release of a report by an advocate-commissioner, appointed by the high court, on the alleged irregularities in the Sarada Peetham's constructions.
