Anantapur: Anantapur District Sessions Court Judge Sreenivas on Saturday appreciated efforts of Anantapur Discover to protect sparrows by setting up artificial bird nests in all parts of the city.
A.G. Anil Kumar is the founder of Anantapur Discover. He started the organisation after he found that many bird species, mainly sparrows, had started disappearing from the urban region of Anantapur.
Anil Kumar realised that the birds had gone missing as they lacked shelters with enough protection to nest and lay their eggs.
This led to formation of Anantapur Discover, which researched and set up tens of thousands of artificial nests for the birds. In due course, birds started adopting the artificial nests and started laying their eggs.
This led to various organisations recognising and presenting awards to Anantapur Discover and its founder Anil Kumar.
On Saturday, the District Sessions Court Judge felicitated Anil Kumar in the central hall of the court for his efforts towards protecting birds.
