Kakinada Police Dismantle Arrangements at Cockfight Grounds

Kakinada: Kakinada district police officials on Sunday dismantled arrangements made at several grounds in various villages that had been prepared for staging cockfights.

They went on to warn owners of these grounds that legal action will be taken against them if the grounds are allowed to be used for any activities that have been banned by the authorities.

Following reports of grounds being prepared for cockfights, Kakinada superintendent of police Vikrant Patil ordered dismantling of structures put up ahead of the cockfights at Thimmapuram, Sarpavaram, Karapa, Pedapudi, Gollapalem, Koringa, Indrapalem, Pithapuram Town, Pithapuram Rural, U. Kothapalli and Gollaprolu, Peddapuram, Samalkot, Jaggampeta, Gandepalli, Kirlampudi, Prathipadu, Annavaram, Rowhtulapudi, Yeleswaram, Tuni Rural, Thondangi, Kotananduru mandals.

After dismantling of the structures, police served notices to the land owners, cautioning them against allowing their properties to be used for cockfights.

Police have also bound over those who fabricate knives that are tied to the feet of roosters ahead of the cockfights.

Vikrant Patil said they are using drones to trace grounds that are being prepared for cockfights.

Nuzvid circle inspector Satya Srinivas said they are organising campaigns in various villages against the organising of any gambling activities.

Nidamarru circle inspector M. Subhash arrested M. Brahmanandam of China Ramachandrapuram village in Ganapavaram mandal and seized 1,300 cockfight knives from him.
