Tirupati: The much-anticipated Brahmotsavams at the revered Swayambhu Sri Varasiddi Vinayaka Swamy temple in Kanipakam, Chittoor district, are set to commence with vibrant festivities starting on Vinayaka Chavithi. Devotees from across India are expected to gather for the celebrations, which will run from September 7 to 27.
The festival kicks off on Saturday with a special Abhishekam to the deity in the morning, followed by the Gramotsavam in the evening. The formal beginning of the Brahmotsavams will be marked by Dhwajarohanam, the ceremonial flag hoisting, on September 8.
Key events throughout the festival include the Lord's procession on various vahanams (vehicles). Highlights include the Mushika Vahanam on September 10, the Vrushaba Vahanam on September 12, Rathotsavam on September 14, and the celestial wedding, Thirukalyanam, also on September 14. The first phase of the Brahmotsavams will conclude with Dhwajavarohanam on September 16.
The second phase, known as the Pratyeka Utsavams, will feature several important events: Adhikara Nandi Vahanam on September 17, Ravana Brahma Vahanam on September 18, Pushpa Pallaki Seva on September 21, Surya Prabha Vahanam on September 23, Kamadhenu Vahanam on September 24, and Pulangi Seva on September 26. The festivities will conclude with Teppotsavam on September 27.
District collector Sumit Kumar reviewed the arrangements with SP Manikanta Chandolu, temple executive officer Guru Prasad and other key officials. To handle the large number of pilgrims, extensive preparations have been made, including special queues to ensure a smooth darshan experience. All Arjita Sevas have been temporarily suspended to accommodate the influx of devotees.
“The necessary arrangements, including parking facilities, cleanliness, and medical camps, are in place. Ambulances and doctors are on standby for emergencies, particularly during nighttime. The excise department has been instructed to close government liquor stores within a 2 km radius of the temple on September 14, 21, and 25,” the collector said.
District SP Manikanta Chandolu confirmed that robust security measures, including CCTV surveillance, have been implemented. VIP visits will be scheduled to minimise disruption and prioritise ordinary devotees. Temple staff have been advised to manage crowds effectively and maintain open communication with visitors.
