Kids of Steel Plant Victims Reject HDK’s Offer of Compensatory Jobs
We may ask for more compensation but not any job

Visakhapatnam: Grief-stricken children of those who died in Monday’s blast in the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) declared that they would not accept the employment offer made by Central steel minister H.D. Kumaraswamy given the present conditions.
“We may ask for more compensation but not any job,’’ said K. Prasad, son of general foreman K. Prabhakar, who died in the Steel Melting Shop 1 blast in the plant in Visakhapatnam on Monday evening.
He said he is working as an IT professional in Bengaluru. There is no need for him to take up any job in the steel plant, particularly after this incident.
“I saw the charred body of my father. I felt like running away from the steel plant. Will the management assure me that there will not be any more accidents in future,” Prasad asked.
His younger brother Lokesh is very firm in his no. Presently doing his post-graduation in Rangaraya Medical College in Kakinada, he said he has a bright future in his medical field. There is no need to work in a factory in any capacity.
He said his mother wants everyone to stay away from the steel plant premises after this incident.
G. Radha, wife of another victim Trinadh, who had a brief interaction with minister N. Lokesh, expressed a similar opinion.
“My husband suffered a fracture to his leg in an accident during 2012 in the same department that blew up on Monday. The management did not pay him a single rupee,” she said. Now, she is not sure of employment or good compensation and told openly that none of her two sons would join the steel plant.
“I am preparing for civil services and bank officers jobs and am not interested in working in a steel factory,’’ said Pavan, Radha’s older son. His younger brother Bharat said he would turn down the offer made by the central minister. He said he is well settled in the IT sector and hopes to grow better in the field.
