King George Hospital introduces 24/7 battery-powered car service

Visakhapatnam: The RINL donated five battery operated cars to north Andhra’s biggest healthcare facility King George Hospital in Vizag which will operate them round the clock for the convenience of the patients, injured persons, senior citizens, children and challenged persons.

Collector Dr A. Mallikarjuna received the cars on behalf of the hospital from the RINL officials at a formal function held on Thursday.

The five cars cost `40 lakh and it was donated under CSR funds of the RINL company. The KGH built on 27 acres of land has various departments scattered all over the premises. Patients from neighbouring Chattisgarh and Odisha also avail treatment in KGH. Superintendent of KGH Dr P Ashok Kumar said over 1,400 patients visit KGH everyday and on an average 250 surgeries are performed.

An equal number of attendants also visit the hospital round the clock. Director of projects, RINL A.K. Bagchi handed over the cars to the collector and he also drove one in the hospital premises. The collector thanked the RINL for donating much needed battery cars to the hospital. He said the cars would be operated round the clock in three shifts and free of charge. Senior officials of RINL, KGH, principal of Andhra Medical College Dr G Buchchiraju and others were present on the occasion.
